Mike Hessen of New Zealand was nominated as Pakistan’s new white-ball head coach on Tuesday. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Hessen would join the side on May 26, a day after the conclusion of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Hessen, who earned a name as a New Zealand head coach, was given a new coach after advertising a PCB post after a disastrous tour of New Zealand after a disastrous tour of New Zealand. Apparently seven candidates had submitted applications for the situation, including four foreigners.
Hessen is currently working as the head coach of Islamabad United, who is the defending champion of the Pakistan Super League (PAL), and also has a coaching experience in the Indian Premier League.
PCB president Mohsin Naqvi said that Hessen brings a proven track record of developing international experience and competitive aspects with him.
“We look forward to his expertise and leadership in shaping the future of Pakistan’s white ball cricket,” said Naqvi.
Hessen is the fifth foreign head coach appointed with the Pakistan team since 2023 and follows Grant Bradburn, Mickey Arthur, Simon Helmet, Gary Kirsten and Gilespie.
Bradburn, Arthur, Kirsten and Gilulpie all resigned without completing their contracts, while the helmet was appointed as a high performance coach for only one tour in Australia in early 2023.
Others resigned with a sign of PCB working and unhappy with their relationship.
The PCB has changed its aid team with the men’s organization, including the head coach of the head coach.
Sakalain Mushtaq, Muhammad Hafze and Aqib have also worked as the team’s directors or head coaches, which works with a lot of success with the national side.
PCB also nominated AAQIB Javed, named the interim coach, which was the new director of the National Cricket Academy.
