England suffer a big blow for the West Indies ODE series because star Pesar Jofra Archer dropped out

England fast bowler Joffra Archer has been excluded from the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies, which has been confirmed by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Tuesday, 21 May, due to the right thumb injury. This shock is another disappointing development for 30 -year -old pacer, which has fought with a string of injuries in recent years. Archer was also not part of the England squad for a united testing against Zimbabwe, which was declared earlier this month.

ECB said in an official statement, โ€œEngland men and Sussex Pace bowler Joffra Archer has been dropped from the Metro Bank ODI series against the West Indies.โ€ โ€œHe will be assured by the England Medical Team in the next fortnight to determine when he could return to the action.โ€

To cover for the absence of Archer, ECB has nominated 29-year-old Lancashire Left-Arcetar Luke Wood as a replacement in the squad. Wood, who has impressed in limited occasions with his speed and versatility, will see to seize this opportunity on the soil of the house.

Wood has recently depicted Peshawar Zalmi with 11 wickets in eight innings for his franchise in the Pakistan Super League.

Meanwhile, Archer will be assured by the England Medical Team to determine when he could return to action.

Englandโ€™s first stability against the West Indies is scheduled on 29 May in Edgbaston.
