Matthew Ford announced himself on the international stage in magnificent fashion on Friday, equalizing the fastest fifty record in the one -day international (ODI) history during the second ODI between West Indies and Ireland in Dublin. Coming to number 8, the 23-year-old shut down a blistering half-century off just 16 balls, mixing the prestigious records set by AB de Villiers in 2015 against the West Indies Side. Ford’s tornado Nock came at the perfect time for visitors, who were watching a three -match series after a huge defeat in the first ODI.

He eventually fell for 58 runs in 19 balls in the 47th over, with two fours and eight huge sixes. Remarkable, 56 of his 58 runs came through borders, causing the Irish bowlers to shocked his beating.

Thanks to Forde’s late attack, West Indies managed to post a commanding 352 for eight in their 50 overs – a large scale change in the series opener with his batting fall.

It was a continuation of Ford’s promising look with the bat, the first ODI had an impact with a gritty 38, where he helped stitch a significant 98 run stand with Roston Chase, when the team had reduced six to six to chase 304.

Although Forde is mainly known for the moderate speed of its right hand, it was his fearless and free-flow strokeplay that stole the headlines this time.

In doing so, he joined an aristocratic list of power-hitrs who have burnt the format with a record-fastest half-century, rubbing shoulders with legends such as Sanath Jayasuria, Kusal Perera, Martin Guptill and Liam Livingstone.

Ireland defeated Wi by 124 runs in the first ODI, which is above 1-0 in the series.
