Chennai’s Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and selected to bat against Gujarat Titans in his Indian Premier League match on Sunday, which may be his last match in the T20 league. Talking to Ravi Shastri at the time of the toss, Dhoni answered some difficult questions about his physical good, the ability to play cricket at the age of 43. While Shastri directly asked if it would be Dhoni’s final season in the IPL, the CSK icon decided to give himself a hint.
Dhoni said, “My body is alive. There is a new challenge every year. It needs a lot of maintenance. This is the final stage of my career. When I was playing international cricket, I was not very upset.”
While Dhoni did not specifically say whether he would return to play for CSK in the next season, he admitted to be in the final stages.
“This (pitch) looks nice and rigid, it seems that it will remain the same in 40 overs. It is quite hot, looks like a good track. It (his body) is alive. Cricket.
A win in this competition for GT is important, which has 18 points out of 13 matches so far with nine wins, as it will help them to ensure the top-two finish for the IPL playoffs.
For CSK, this will be another opportunity to test young talent.
